NYNL Day 2: Create a 10-Year Plan

Hello! And welcome to New Year. New Life. Where we are completing 31 days of mini-challenges in order to set more substantial life goals (and achieve them) for the future!

{If you are reading this for the first time, you can check out what it’s all about here}

If you are returning from yesterday, I hope you spent the day thinking about what you want your life to look like in 10 years. We are using that today!

Today, we are going to do the easiest-sounding, most difficult mini-challenge of all:

We are going to spend 20 minutes writing out our 10 year plans.

You read that right, 20 minutes

Why on earth would it take that long? Because, honestly, most of us have a fuzzy, general idea of what we want but not really a clear, precise picture. When I did this for the first time, I wrote down about 5 bullet points then wondered what the heck to do with the remaining 19 minutes. KEEP WRITING.

In order to set goals for today and this year, you need to know EXACTLY what you want out of life for (at least) the next decade. The devil is in the details, y’all, so don’t leave anything out! If you want it, write it!

It doesn’t matter if it works out or not. In fact, some of it won’t. And it will change with time. But the point is to figure out where you want to go and what to start doing today to achieve it.

And for those of you who hate writing: Don’t worry. You never have to show this to anyone. You can type it in a password-protected Word document and delete it 2 days from now. So don’t be embarrassed about sounding like an idiot.

I mean, look at me... I sound like an idiot all the time but that doesn’t stop me from writing…
and publicly, at that! :)

Now set your timer and GO!
