New Year. New Life. Day 1

So… it’s here; the new year. The season of resolution, intention, determination, and conation. We will do this and we want to do that in the new year. We all have big plans and things that we want to accomplish and 1/1 seems like the perfect time for a fresh new start!

However, New Year’s Resolutions have basically become a joke in our culture. We start out strong on January 1, and somewhere around the 24th, we begin to lose our willpower. And our focus. And our desire to do better. And then we’re back to our old habits (and feeling like failures because of it).

And I am the most guilty person ever of not finishing out a New Year’s Resolution. My resolution last year (don’t laugh) was to stop worrying. OMG! All it takes is reading one other post from this blog (specifically one written around Finals Week) to see that I failed miserably.

But that’s pretty discouraging to think about… so I spent a lot of time in December researching making resolutions and setting goals and how to follow through with them. As it turns out, I’ve been doing it wrong all along (and I bet you have, too)!

So, in the next 30 days, I will use what I’ve learned to give you (and me) a checklist to follow for success in our 2014 Goals (and beyond)!

Just one little mini-challenge a day. We can do that, right?

ABSOLUTELY, WE CAN!

So, here is a “practice challenge” to get ready:

Start thinking about what you want your life to look like 10 years from now.

Nothing specific, just get your thoughts flowing as you go about your daily activities today.

And that's it! What, you thought it would be hard? It's called a "mini-challenge" for a reason!

Bring those thoughts tomorrow for Day 2!

Oh, and...
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Y'ALL!!! :)
